Have you ever tried making nut milk at home?

I personally have always felt a bit of resistance in making them at home. The reason is the tedious process involved and the cleanup after that. Making homemade nut milk requires quite a bit of steps starting from soaking the nuts, blending them in a good quality blender, and filtering the milk using a cheesecloth. I am already feeling tired of writing about the process itself. And all this is followed by a huge cleanup!

On the other side, I refrain from using store-bought nut milk as they contain added chemicals, preservatives, and emulsifiers. However, I do make nut butter, especially my favorite almond butter, more often using my traditional blender. Though blenders make good quality nut butter, more often than not, I need to add oil to make the blending process smoother. Moreover, I usually find it difficult scraping the last bit of that delicious butter resulting in wastage. These traditional blenders are simply not made for this job.

I guess I’ve complained enough. So, let me introduce you to a new friend in the kitchen: The NutraMilk. Thanks to NutraMilk, the process of making dairy-free alternatives has become much easier than before. Continue reading…

You must be wondering what is ‘The NutraMilk‘. It is a countertop kitchen appliance whose primary goal is to make nut milk and nut butter at the convenience of your home. I never saw any product on the market that is so versatile in handling a large variety of nuts and seeds as well as grains and legumes.

Now, why am I loving and talking about this amazing product? Let me be more specific:

    • It is very easy to use. Anyone can create fresh and chemical-free alternative milk and butter in their own kitchen in less than 15 min.
    • There is almost zero wastage of the product.
    • And more importantly (for me at least!), it is very easy to clean.

Overall, it does a splendid job of making your favorite nut milk/butter in no time. Watch the video below to see The NutraMilk in action.

How to make Homemade Nut Milk?

Making nut milk using The Nutramilk involves only two steps. Reduce nuts into butter and then mix with water. No need to use cheesecloth or any other strainer. It has an inbuilt strainer and dispenser. Just use the dispenser to get silky smooth milk.

You can make a variety of flavored milk using the nuts of your choice.

    How to make nut butter

Like the nut milk making nut butter is extremely easy in The NutraMilk. You just have to add raw or roasted nuts into the jar and then run in the ‘butter’ mode for few a minutes. Running time varies for different nuts and seeds. Below is a list of processing times for common nut butter (when using The NutraMilk) that I often make in my kitchen.

    • Almond butter – 10 min
    • Cashew butter –  7 min
    • Peanut butter – 3-5 min
    • Sesame butter (aka Tahini) – 15 min
    • Hazelnut chocolate spread – 15 min. (For making this spread, I use 1 ½ cup raw hazelnuts, ¼ cup agave, and ¼ cocoa powder)

Options are unlimited when using nut butter and nut milk, especially for those who have allergies to dairy-based products. You can use them in smoothies, curries, soup, and desserts.
